The head of the dragon on its gate

Greetings in many languages alphabetically arranged for peace and harmony. On this blog, I’ll be posting items that interest me and may be useful in your journey discovering Gaudí’s work, updates before they can be pushed to the app, stories that you may find interesting and idle thoughts of my own. Here’s one.

Imagine being a bystander on the day that the famous dragon gate was hung in the gateway of Pavellons (Finca) Güell. Imagine the conversation among Eusebi Güell, Antoni Gaudí, and Joan Oñós, the artisan who made it, and possibly even Jacint Verdaguer, the famous Catalan epic poet. Men of probity, culture and faith helping to transform the world of late 19th century Barcelona.

I’d like to think they got a bang and a good laugh out of it, don’t you?
